St. Joseph's Convent, Walsgrave Road

Camera No. 11
St. Joseph's Convent School was founded by the Sisters of Mercy as a girls' day and boarding school in 1862, overlooking Gosford Green. Suffering several air-raids during WW2, the buildings were destroyed in April 1941. By the end of that year the senior school girls had been moved to a newly purchased boarding school at Offchurch House, Leamington Spa.
