Binley Road by Gosford Green looking east

Camera No. 18

Seeing the railings on the left, forming the boundary between Gosford Green and Binley Road in the c1930 postcard photo, only serve to remind us just how much of the green was stolen for the creation of Sky Blue Way. On the right is the still the same row of houses, thankfully, plus the junction with Gulson and St. George's Roads, while up ahead we see the railway bridge, now replaced by a roundabout linking the road with the A444.

Clicking on the old photograph will bring us back to 2025. if you wish to see the images separately.

The tramlines, including the passing point in the foreground, would only have another decade ahead of them, of course, as the Blitz of November 1940 caused so much damage to the lines that the whole tram service, the end of which was already being planned, came to an end that night.
